GROUP RETREAT FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who will be leading the retreat?
Your retreat leader will be Greg “Magick” Bernstein.
What happens on a group retreat?
On retreat, we travel together to magical and mystical shamanic realms and Sacred Site vortexes where anything is possible and miracles regularly occur. We will be immersed in a field of unconditional love and limitlessness in which everything is possible and true peace results. You will be changed forever! Participants often experience awakenings, oneness, downloads, catharsis, epiphanies, miraculous healings, divinity, higher self, mystical realms, life purpose, self-love, self-realization as God, improved relationships, wealth, finding their life partner and ease of life. This is not an ordinary retreat, it’s a shamanic mystical retreat . . . and you will never be the same again.
Do I have to participate in all group activities?
No. All activities are optional.
Will there be alone time for me on the retreat?
Yes, there is always some time for individuals to have alone time on the retreat.
What level of physical ability is required?
While we do not typically go on long hikes, some sites do require some hiking and physical exertion to reach and enjoy. If you cannot physically do any activity, please let the retreat leader know as there are always alternatives available
What is the daily schedule?
The format of the retreat is to follow spirit, your higher self, in every moment. As such, there is no agenda or daily schedule. This retreat operates in the void, the total unknown of all possibilities. This creates the opportunity for whatever is most alive to arise organically from who and what is present in every moment of now. It’s the true shamanic way, no plan, no agenda, just following spirit, following the next opening. It could be a teaching, a ceremony, a meditation, a transmission, a trip to a Sacred Site, free time or anything. There are no limits.
Having said that, we do know from looking at past retreats that there are some typical patterns. On most days we will be in nature, at a Sacred Site(s), much of the day. There is often shamanic transmission, downloads and teachings on and off throughout the day as well as time at the sites for individual ceremony, meditation, and exploration. Lunch is often out in nature in beautiful settings or Sacred Sites. Sometimes, more than one power place or vortex is visited in a day, and other times, we drop in deep at just one site. A catered gourmet dinner is enjoyed together at the retreat facility, followed by activities, teachings, ritual, and/or transmissions as well as sharing from fellow participants.
There will also be plenty of leisure time to integrate the powerful teachings and experiences at the Sacred Sites. The retreat space is an oasis of peace and tranquility and is often located in amazingly scenic areas and very close to, or even on, power spots.
What kind of teachings are offered?
Many participants report there are two teachers on these retreats, Greg “Magick” Bernstein (the retreat facilitator) and the land itself. This is an experiential retreat; lots of the transformation and awakening happens while in the Sacred Sites, out on the land. For others the key transformations happen while Magick is doing his shamanic transmission through story-telling and eye gazing. However, many also have breakthroughs in the most mundane of moments since Magick is creating a “Sacred Container” which is constantly emanating a field of unconditional love and truth throughout the retreat.
The teachings Magick shares are founded in many forms of both western and eastern shamanism, mysticism and wisdom. We call these transmissions/teachings Mystical Shamanism. It pulls from the core tenets of many indigenous shamanic teachings and mystical aspects of some of the world’s religions. Mystical Shamanism is definitely not what most westerners traditionally call shamanism; it’s much more than that. It is the awakening to the limitless potential within you. The full realization that You are the Sacred Site, and more . . .
Where is the retreat held?
Home base for the retreat, “The Retreat House,” where we gather together each day, is a beautiful and comfortable estate house or retreat center with natural and exotic scenery located on or near sacred land in Hawaii or Mount Shasta. We tend to choose extraordinary sites with special features which are so magnificent themselves that people sometimes don’t want to leave. Its surroundings are often filled with beautiful qualities, such as a beach, waterfall, tropical rainforest, lake or fresh spring fed pond. It’s just the right combination of being truly a relaxing and peaceful place as well as magical and powerful.
Once you register for the retreat, you will receive a Confirmation Email with The Retreat House location
Where will I stay during the retreat?
You are responsible for your own accommodations. We will recommend a hotel for participants to stay. We strongly recommend that in order to maintain the energy of the “Shamanic Container” that you stay at the recommended hotel(s).
We require participants to obtain single occupancy accommodations (unless traveling as a couple) so that they rest, integrate and sleep in their own energy field. Single occupancy also prevents the need to quarantine if a roommate were to become ill.
Can I stay at the retreat center before, during or after the retreat?
No. Please arrive at “The Retreat House” at the time the retreat officially begins. Each evening, you must return to your local accommodation. Please vacate The Retreat House once the retreat officially ends.
Are meals served on the retreat?
Lunch & dinner are provided. The food served on the retreat is on the healthy side, varied and delicious. Most food is organic; we take food allergies into consideration and do our best to accommodate your dietary needs.
We have a catered full and gourmet style meal for dinner together at The Retreat House.
Brown bag lunches are provided out at the Sacred Sites.
Breakfast is not included. Depending on the retreat, it is sometimes available at the accommodation (hotel) where participants are recommended to stay. Also, the kitchen at The Retreat House is open at specified times for you to bring and make your own breakfast.
There are plenty of snacks at The Retreat House and on the road as we travel to the Sacred Sites.
Do you cater to people with food sensitivities and allergies?
If we know in advance of your needs, our food service and catering considers gluten-free, vegetarians and vegans.
Once you register for the retreat, we will email you a “Food Survey” form so you can share with us your specific dietary requirements.
Please let us know of your dietary requirements at least 30 days in advance of the retreat. If you have lots of food sensitivities or allergies you may need to supplement our catering and food supply with your own. Ultimately, you are responsible to care for yourself to be sure you get the food you need. Please let us know how we can help.
Is there a refrigerator I can use?
Yes. “The Retreat House” includes an open kitchen. Kitchen access will open at a specific time in the morning (with plenty of time to make your own breakfast if you choose) and the kitchen will close immediately following the end of the evening’s activities
Do I provide my own transportation to, from and on the retreat?
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the retreat facility (The Retreat House) and to the Sacred Sites each day. Once at The Retreat House, many participants choose to share vehicles with other participants to travel to the Sacred Sites which makes the experience more fun and intimate.
If you are flying to Maui, fly into Kahului airport. If you are flying into Mount Shasta, you can fly into Redding, CA, Medford, OR, or Sacramento, CA. For custom retreats in different locations check in with us.

How is weather important?
All kinds of weather are possible. The retreat will happen and continue in whatever the weather conditions may be, including but not limited to rain, snow, fog, smoke or sunshine, hot or cold conditions. So please be prepared so you can be comfortable in any conditions.
What do I wear?
Be casual and comfortable, favoring clothing that is suitable for outdoor adventures and also is comfortable for sitting inside The Retreat House for teachings and activities. A list of important items to bring on the retreat will be emailed to you in the Confirmation Email. We may be in a variety of weather and climates so please be prepared for all conditions, including but not limited to hot and cold, wet and dry, sunny and rainy. Everyone is very different as to what is comfortable for them so ultimately, it is your responsibility to determine what clothes to wear in what conditions.
Is there internet/wi-fi at the retreat facility?
While on retreat we strongly request that you refrain from using any communication devices.
“Unplugging” is a key opportunity on the retreat and is part of us co-creating what we call the “Shamanic Container.” This is a time to step out of your normal 3-D reality and create infinite space for all possibilities. When you communicate with the outside world who is not in this infinite space with us, it can pull you (and the group) out of this higher frequency.
Will there be alcohol on the retreat?
No, we require that you refrain from using alcohol during the retreat. If you feel you cannot, please talk to the retreat leader in advance.
May I take drugs on the retreat?
Please continue to take any prescriptions or over the counter drugs your doctor has prescribed or recommended, or that you feel you need to be safe and healthy. Please do not take any recreational and/or illegal substances or mind-altering plant medicines.
Do you use medicine substances on the retreat such as Ayahuasca?
No, while we have nothing against teacher plants as they can be quite expansive under the right circumstances, we do not use them on our retreats
Can I arrive late to the retreat?
On the first day, you can arrive any time. If you arrive after 9 pm, go directly to your lodging and come to The Retreat House on the first morning of the retreat. You cannot arrive later than the first day.
Can I leave the retreat early because my travel plans won’t allow me to stay till the end?
Yes, you can leave early on the day the retreat ends if your travel plans require such. If you need to leave earlier than the last day of the retreat, please ask permission from the retreat leader prior to the start of the retreat.
What happens if I leave the retreat early for personal reasons?
You may choose to leave the retreat early, but if you choose to leave the retreat early for any reason, the full amount paid for the retreat is not refundable.
How many people will be on the retreat?
The groups are always small and intimate. Smaller groups sizes create the ability to be more in flow and follow spirit in every moment. It also creates more intimacy between the facilitator and participants as well as with each other. The group quickly becomes a loving family and most people stay bonded and connected with other group members for the rest of their lives. Depending on the retreat facility, groups are no more than 16 participants and can be smaller. There are always limited spaces available and retreats are almost always filled.
